Latest Changes:
March 2010 - Investment in new Technology - We have further upgraded equipment in our milling department with the recent addition of a 2010 Makino A51 Horizontal Mill.  This will lower setup and expand lights out machining. Our drive and focus is to support our customer needs on the milling work they have.

January 2010 - Investment in new Technology - We have rolled out Mastercam CAD/CAM for off line programming in milling department, Mazacam CAD/CAM for off line programming in our Turning Department.  We have also upgraded our DNC software to ENET DNC, and have added Shop Floor Manager software at each CNC to monitor machine usage, real-time scheduling, labor and inventory transactions.

September 2009 - Investment in new Technology - We have further upgraded equipment in our turning department with the recent addition of a second Mazak 200MSY with a barfeeder.  This continues our focus on the "one and done" approach to our work here.  Consolidating operations allows quicker lead time, less WIP and lower setup costs to the customer.

June 2009 - Advancement in Quality Systems - As a result of a new customer we are experienced with APQP up through Level 3 PPAPs as per their supplier quality system requirements. A number of us at GEM have been involved with APQP at other companies in the past, but always in a high volume production environment. Having additional experience in applying these processes in the high mix, lower volume environment we work in at GEM should help us be more competitive with John Deere work.

August 2009 - Expansion in our Quality Department - We have upgraded inspection equipment by adding a Laser Micrometer, an automated Mitutoyo CMM, air gauging.    Relayout of our Quality to to focused, satellite labs for each the Turning and Milling Departments.

Summer 2008 - GEM adds another AMADA HFA-250W automatic band saw for expansion, adds another programmable matrix marking equipment, adds material handling equipment to increase capacity to 300 pounds in the Vertical Milling Cell.
